Du'ā is the believer's direct line to Allah — asking Him, thanking Him, and turning to Him in every moment. It needs no special place, time, or language.
"And your Lord says: Call upon Me; I will respond to you."— Qur'an 40:60
"Du'ā is worship."— Sunan al-Tirmidhī
Raise your hands, praise Allah, send blessings on the Prophet ﷺ, then ask — for this life and the next. He never tires of being asked.
Dhikr is the remembrance of Allah through simple, repeated phrases. The Prophet ﷺ said the one who remembers Allah and the one who does not are like the living and the dead. Keep these on your tongue throughout the day:
After each obligatory prayer, it is Sunnah to say SubḥānAllāh (33×), Alḥamdulillāh (33×), and Allāhu Akbar (33 or 34×).
The Prophet ﷺ taught us protective remembrances to recite each morning and evening. A few simple, powerful ones:
| Occasion | Say… |
|---|---|
| Before eating | Bismillāh ("In the name of Allah") |
| After eating | Alḥamdulillāh ("All praise to Allah") |
| Before sleeping | Bismika Allāhumma amūtu wa aḥyā |
| Waking up | Alḥamdulillāhi alladhī aḥyānā… |
| Leaving home | Bismillāh, tawakkaltu ʿalā Allāh… |
| Entering the bathroom | Allāhumma innī aʿūdhu bika… |
| When distressed | Lā ilāha illā anta subḥānaka innī kuntu min aẓ-ẓālimīn |
| When traveling | Subḥāna alladhī sakhkhara lanā hādhā… |
A pocket book of du'ās such as Ḥiṣn al-Muslim ("Fortress of the Muslim") collects authentic supplications for nearly every situation.
Keep your tongue moist with the remembrance of Allah. Come pray with the community and learn these adhkar together.
